(Fort McMurray, AB – February 16, 2021) – The Wood Buffalo 2022 Arctic Winter Games Host Society is looking for local artists to design the official Games Torch. The torch wrap design should reflect travelling and connections, the interconnectedness of the communities in the Wood Buffalo region and celebrate everyone’s time to shine.
The winning design will be used on the Games torch that will travel from Fort Fitzgerald, Fort Chipewyan, Fort McKay, Anzac, Janvier, Conklin, Saprae Creek and Fort McMurray as part of the Torch Relay.
“The torch design is our third artist call since the start of the new year and we look forward to seeing even more submissions from the talented artists in Wood Buffalo,” said Melissa Blake, Co-chair of the Wood Buffalo 2022 Arctic Winter Games Host Society Board of Directors. “The Arctic Winter Games are an event for entire region and the torch relay is a way to ensure every resident has the opportunity to be a part of this celebration.”
The design competition is open to individuals over 18-years-old who are living in the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo. The selection panel will choose one artist who will receive an honorarium
The deadline to send in a submission is March 15, 2021. The entry form can be found at awg2022.org.
