The Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo (RMWB) is home to approximately 90,000 people and is situated on Treaty 8 Territory, ancestral and traditional land of the Cree, Dene and Métis people.

Our region has a rich and vibrant history and welcomes many different cultures from around the world. Winter is celebrated in Wood Buffalo as there are many activities to choose from.

Whether you want to ice fish on our lakes, enjoy one of our many outdoor rinks throughout the city, go cross-country skiing and snowshoeing on our vast trail system – there’s something for everyone!
