Wood Buffalo 2022 Arctic Winter Games announces partnership with Professional Snowboarder Brooke Voigt

(Fort McMurray, AB – August 24, 2020) – The Wood Buffalo 2022 Arctic Winter Games Host Society is pleased to welcome Professional Snowboarder Brooke Voigt as an official ambassador leading up to the 2022 event. Originally from Fort McMurray, Voigt is a former Arctic Winter Games (AWG) athlete who made her Olympic debut in PyeongChang in 2018.

“We are thrilled to welcome Brooke Voigt as our official ambassador for the Games as she already serves as an amazing ambassador for our region,” says Kim Rizzi, General Manager – Wood Buffalo 2022 Arctic Winter Games. “Brooke is a prime example of dedication to sport and athletic excellence making her a wonderful role model for AWG athletes and all youth of the circumpolar north. This partnership showcases our pride in Brooke and the strength of the Arctic Winter Games legacy as we prepare to shine together.”

The partnership will highlight Voigt’s achievements and support the promotion of the Wood Buffalo 2022 Arctic Winter Games’ mission, vision and values to the community and an international audience. Voigt will participate in multiple marketing and engagement initiatives to support the success of the Games and inspire participants.

“I’m really excited to see all the new young faces of Arctic Winter Games,” says Voigt. “The Games were a significant stepping stone for me in the beginning of my career and I hope that’s the case for many athletes to come. It means a lot to me to be partnering with an event that helped me develop my passion for competition.”

The Arctic Winter Games is an international biennial celebration of circumpolar sports and Indigenous culture. Taking place in Wood Buffalo from March 6-12, 2022, the Arctic Winter Games will highlight the region and its culture through the spirit of sport to an international audience and visitors from around the world. The week-long event will see athletes from our own backyard and from international circumpolar North regions during their time to shine.
